Social media and how the police engage with their communities continue to change. What worked two years ago will not be as effective on today's social media platforms. This presentation will provide helpful information on what platforms work best for community engagement. Attendees will better understand moving to visual posts with fewer written words, algorithms, and which platforms your community will follow you on. Public trust and transparency, combined with banding and imaging, can be greatly improved with the appropriate use of social media. Selecting who in an organization should be part of the social media team is critical to the success of the program, and an agency doesn’t need to be big to have a significant impact on the community.
