The presentation will explain characteristics of Brazilian legislation related to drunk and impaired driving enforcement. The presentation will discuss public policies to improve highway safety implemented by the Military Police of the State of São Paulo. Some of these actions include traffic enforcement and educational actions. These actions have been success even in challenging circumstances in 2021 and 2021. In particular, during these years the vehicle fleet in the State of Sao Paulo increased, as did the size of the state’s network of highways, while the number of officers available for enforcement on state highways decreased.
