Christopher Carita, MPH is an expert on Violence Prevention, Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM), and the implementation of Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPO). He earned his Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University as an esteemed Bloomberg American Health Initiative Fellow focusing on Violence Prevention. He is an 18-year Law Enforcement veteran with over a decade of investigative experience as a Detective with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. He currently investigates threats of Targeted Violence, and coordinates with Federal partners for his agency on suspected Terrorism, Threats to Life, and Political Violence.
Christopher is also a Master Trainer under the Department of Homeland Security’s National Threat Assessment and Reporting Program and now trains interdisciplinary teams on building collective efficacy and collaboration in recognizing, evaluating, and mitigating threats of targeted violence through evidence-based methods, including ERPO.
