Sarah Shendy is currently a police sergeant with over 15 years of law enforcement experience. Shendy was a Law Enforcement Training Officer with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office for four years instructing on topics involving trauma and human relations. In 2014, Shendy was one of sixteen members elected by AG Mike DeWine to serve on a panel evaluating the training, certification, and advancement of law enforcement officers in the State of Ohio. In September of 2019, Shendy participated in the ceremonial pitch at the Indians game after being nominated as a Hometown Hero. In June of 2020, Shendy was appointed by Governor DeWine to lead the Office of Law Enforcement Recruitment. Shendy has been featured with Kent State University in their Alumni Success Story series, the Kent State University Magazine, and twice featured with Police1.com. In December of 2021, Officer Shendy was named Top Cop by Summit County Prosecutor’s Office. Shendy was published in Police1’s 22 on 2022: A Police Leadership Playbook. In July of 2022, Shendy was the recipient of the IACP 40 Under 40 Award. She is the first known Arab-American Muslim female Sergeant in the State of Ohio.
