Superintendent Tyrone Sideroff oversees the VPD’s Information Services, encompassing over 200 personnel and seven specialized business areas, including Planning & Research and the Department’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Review. Tyrone joined the VPD in 2004 and has since worked across all VPD Divisions – Operations, Investigations, and Support Services. He spent the first 10 years in frontline operations, being recognized as the 2010 Vancouver Police Officer of the Year, before completing investigative assignments in Property Crime and on an international joint-forces project. In 2017, he served a principal role on the VPD’s Operational Review, which studied the department’s long-term staffing needs and resulted in 172 new positions. He has also worked in Professional Standards, played key roles on numerous major projects, including the VPD’s organizational response to Covid-19, and as Staff Sergeant and Inspector in charge of HR serving over 2,100 staff. He is the recipient of eight commendations, including BC Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for Valour and Meritorious Service and was appointed to Canada’s Order of Merit of the Police Forces in 2023.
