Chief Adrian Diaz has been a dedicated member of the Seattle Police Department for 26 years. The Chief has served in a variety of different bureaus before being promoted to Assistant Chief. He has served as Assistant Chief for the Collaborative Policing Bureau, was named Deputy Chief and served as Interim Chief of Police for two and a half years. He was appointed as the permanent Chief of Police in 2022. Chief Diaz holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Central Washington University and a Master's in Public Administration from the University of Washington. Chief Diaz currently serves on the IACP Board of Directors and is the President of the Police Executive Research Forum.
