Dr. Michelle Rippy has worked in law enforcement and investigations in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 20 years. Michelle earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in forensic science and a doctorate in organizational change and leadership. Having served as a reserve police officer, Michelle worked in patrol, undercover operations, and a tactical medical provider for the Special Response Unit. Michelle worked for over a decade as a medicolegal death investigator, supervisor, and chief operating officer. Michelle is an associate professor at California State University East Bay and the director of the Forensic Science Research Center. Michelle remains engaged in the law enforcement and medicolegal communities through research, service on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners, and as a death investigator for the federal Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team. Michelle's research focuses on forensic science, law enforcement line-of-duty deaths, the prevalence of ghost guns, and teaching strategies in higher education.
