Lieutenant Robert Martin has over 30 years of experience as a police officer with over 15 years as a police supervisor, he currently serves as a Operations Division Commander with the Berlin, CT Police Department and is the Vice President of the Berlin Police Union Fop Lodge 56. Lieutenant Martin retired from the New Britain Police Department having achieved the rank of Lieutenant assigned as a Patrol Division Shift Commander. Lieutenant Martin has served in the patrol and detective divisions and was also the Commander of the Traffic Safety Bureau. Lieutenant Martin also serves as an adjunct instructor at the Connecticut Police Academy.
Lieutenant Martin has served in various positions within the police unions for both the New Britain and Berlin Police Departments. He also served as the Fraternal Order of Police National Trustee for Connecticut for 12 years. Lieutenant Martin currently holds the position of Treasurer for the National Fraternal Order of Police Legal Defense Plan. Lieutenant Martin has negotiated several union contracts and represented officers and supervisors in disciplinary and labor matters in his role as union vice president.
