Kenneth Quick is a doctoral candidate and adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. His research interests include the effect of officer morale and well-being on agency performance and community satisfaction with the police. He is working on his dissertation which focuses on the use of professionally trained dogs to improve officer perception of organizational support and receptivity to mental health assistance. In addition, he is a consultant for U.S. government funded research projects concentrating on police officer mental health and emergency management.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Kenneth served as a police officer in the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and rose through the ranks to Inspector. He is currently using his accumulated leave prior to his planned retirement. As an executive, he commanded both proactive street crime units and a precinct in Brooklyn. Kenneth was most recently assigned as the Commanding Officer of the Employee Relations Bureau. He is a graduate of Columbia University’s Police Management Institute and has dual master’s degrees in criminal justice and protection management.
