Brett Chapman is a senior social science analyst in the Office of Research, Evaluation and Technology at the National Institute of Justice, U.S. Department of Justice. As a member of the Office of Criminal Justice Systems, he is responsible for the assessment, development, and evaluation of a number of issues relevant to the area of policing and is currently managing a wide array of policing research projects. Before joining NIJ, he served as an instructor at the University of Maryland at College Park, Maryland and worked as a pretrial services officer at the D.C. Pretrial Services Agency in Washington, D.C. where he performed a number of supervisory functions as well as other responsibilities in the pre-release, post-release, failure to appear, and intensive supervision units in the agency. He attended the University of Maryland at College Park and received a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Criminology, and a B.A. in Criminal Justice.
