Superintendent Kimberly (Kim) Taplin was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Acadia University before joining the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Kim also holds a Masters degree in Risk Management, and her work in the field of Enterprise Risk Management gained recognition in Canada and around the world.
In 1991, Kim began her policing career in British Columbia. As a general duty investigator, she was responsible for delivering municipal, provincial, and Indigenous contract policing services to the communities which she served. In 2001, Kim transferred to the RCMP National Headquarters in Ottawa where she worked in a range of operational support functions including: Corporate Management and Comptrollership, Commercial Crime, Strategic Policing and Planning, and Contract and Indigenous Policing. In 2016, Kim received her commission as the Officer in Charge of the now RCMP Indigenous Relation Services.
Superintendent Taplin is currently the Director General of National Crime Prevention and Indigenous Policing Services.
