Ron Hoague is the Chief of the Essex (VT) Police Department and a current Drug Recognition Expert Instructor. He is the current President of the Vermont Association of Chief’s of Police and serves on the Drug Evaluation and Classification (DEC) Program’s Technical Advisory Panel (TAP) as the Police Administration representative. He is also a member of the Vermont Highway Safety Association and the Vermont DRE Program’s Oversight Committee. During his 32 years in Law Enforcement, he has been employed in both Vermont and the State of Florida, being heavily involved in impaired driving programs. Ron holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and Management from Kaplan University and has also completed the IACP Leadership in Policing Course and the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy of Leadership. He has been certified as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) since 2006 and has instructed at all levels to include Standardized Field Sobriety testing, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement and the Drug Recognition Expert Course.
