Chief Tchida has more than 25 years of experience in law enforcement. He has been with the Georgetown, Texas, Police Department for more than 26 years, beginning his career as a patrol officer and working through the ranks. He currently leads a Department of 104 sworn officers.
His teaching experience includes topics such as use of force, less-lethal devices, active shooters, racial profiling, crime statistics, wellness, and leadership. Currently he is working to improve the Department’s mental health response, create more accountability for police officers, and increase the number of women in the law enforcement profession.
He has received numerous honors, including the Georgetown Police Chief’s Award, the City of Georgetown Manager of the Year Award, and the Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year. Chief Tchida earned a MS degree in criminal justice leadership and management from Sam Houston State University and a BA degree in government from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a 2014 graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command and a 2018 graduate of the 272nd Session of the FBI National Academy.
