Emily Alison is the managing director of Protagoras Forensic Services and Interventions Ltd. She is a behavioural consultant psychologist for the last 20 years, providing interventions and training in the criminal justice sector and in the community. For 12 years, she has been a research associate with the University of Liverpool. She is the co-creator and lead researcher on the development of ORBIT (Observing Rapport Based Interpersonal Techniques), which is based on the largest real-world dataset of interviews with terrorist suspects in the world. ORBIT has been implimented by agencies in the UK and globally, included the UK Counter-Terrorism Network, the UK National Negotiaors Network, the UK Home Office War Crimes Investigation team, as well as a range of police academies and military intelligence services. The robust real-world research that sits behind ORBIT was funded by the High Value Detainee Interrogation Group (HIG) in the US and is the foundation of their interrogation and interview training. Emily is a lead researcher and trainer for the development of Helios: ORBIT foundation learning programme in conjunction with the National Crime Agency.
