Mr. Charlie Schaeffer is an Information Technology Senior Executive responsible for collaborating with Public Safety & Justice agencies throughout the Eastern United States for Microsoft with specific focus on enterprise accounts in New York & Florida.
Prior to joining Microsoft, he retired as a senior executive and member of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s (FDLE) Command Staff where he served as the Director for the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division.
Mr. Schaeffer was appointed by two FBI Directors -- James Comey and Christopher Wray to the FBI CJIS Advisory Policy Board (APB) and served as 1st Vice Chairman of the Board; he also Chaired the Public Safety Strategy Committee and Identification Services Committee; was member of the Executive, Security & Access, and Bylaws Committees.
Mr. Schaeffer was appointed by three U.S. Attorney Generals -- Loretta Lynch, Jeff Sessions and William Barr to the National Crime Prevention and Privacy Compact Council. He served as the Chairman of the Standards & Policy Committee and as a member of the Planning & Outreach Committee,
He served as the Florida representative to Nlets, the International Justice and Public Safety Network and is the immediate Past President and Chairman of the Nlets Board of Directors.
For over 20 years he has advised the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Information Technology Laboratory, NIEM Biometrics Domain and the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE).
He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the Law Enforcement Information and Technology (LEIT) Section; the Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA); and the Florida Police Chiefs Association (FPCA).
While in the U.S. Navy he served as Tactical Intelligence Advisor, NATO Supreme Allied Commander, Atlantic (SACLANT), Intelligence Watch Officer, Commander Second Fleet/USS Mount Whitney , TAG Chief, World Wide Military Command and Control System (WWMCCS), CINCUSNAVEUR, London, UK.
