Aaron Zebley is a partner in the Investigations and Criminal Litigation Group at the law firm WilmerHale, focusing on investigations and national security matters. He is a former federal prosecutor and has served in multiple roles at the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI. Aaron served as the Deputy Special Counsel investigating Russian election interference and obstruction of justice, supervising all that office’s investigation and prosecution matters. Aaron also served as FBI Chief of Staff; Senior Counselor in DOJ’s National Security Division; and Assistant US Attorney in the National Security Unit in the Eastern District of Virginia prosecuting espionage and other crimes. Aaron started his government career as an FBI agent investigating international terrorism. He was a team leader in the investigation of the 9/11 attacks and a lead investigator for the 1998 bombings of two US embassies in east Africa, serving for more than two years in Africa and Asia. Aaron is currently a Distinguished Fellow at the Karsh Center for Law and Democracy, and he has received the Attorney General's Award for Excellence in Furthering the Interests of US National Security.
