Leigh Anne McKingsley is Senior Director of Disability & Justice Initiatives at The Arc of the United States and directs the National Center on Criminal Justice and Disability® (NCCJD®). With 27 years of experience working at the intersection of intellectual/developmental disability (IDD) and criminal justice, she strives to build stronger lines of open communication and understanding between these two worlds. She has authored numerous publications and presents nationally and internationally on a broad array of criminal justice and disability topics. In 2013, she worked with The Arc to secure funding a to create NCCJD®, the first national center in the U.S. to address both victim and defendant issues concerning people with IDD. Since its inception, the Center has responded to thousands of information and referral requests, trained over 5,000 criminal justice and disability professionals and created Disability Response Teams in more than a dozen sites around the country. She holds a B.S.W (Bachelor of Science in Social Work), M.S.S.W. (Master of Science in Social Work), and M.P.A. (Master of Public Administration) from the University of Texas at Arlington.
