Christine McLean oversees Labour and Employee Relations at the VPD, and is actively working to modernize departmental labour and employee relations strategies, as well as responding to and addressing the evolving human rights challenges facing the organization and its employees. Christine holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Masters of Industrial Relations, and began her career working in Human Resources (HR) advisory roles for the Interior Health Authority, City of Kamloops, and the BC Lottery Corporation.
Christine joined the VPD in 2012, overseeing civilian and auxiliary police HR processes as the Manager of Civilian and Auxiliary Police Services. Christine subsequently served the BC Public Service Agency as the Director of Employee Relations for a year and a half, after which she rejoined the VPD in her current Director position. Christine has been actively involved in the development of other HR professionals across British Columbia as an Advisory Member for the BC and Yukon Association for Chartered HR Professionals while also teaching post-secondary HR Management courses on a sessional basis.
