John Marley is a Senior Research Associate with the State & Local Anti-Terrorism Training (SLATT) program. He is a retired major with the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) where he last served as the Deputy Branch Commander for the Investigations Branch. Major Marley held various positions throughout his career in the NJSP in the areas of homeland security & domestic preparedness to include assignments at the Regional Operations Intelligence Center (ROIC), FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), and New Jersey Office of Homeland Security & Preparedness (NJOHSP).
Major Marley was assigned to the FBI International Terrorism Operations Section (ITOS) in McLean, Virginia, where he assisted in managing international terrorism investigations. He also assisted in managing the Military Liaison and Detention Unit (MLDU) in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where he conducted interviews of suspected Al Qaeda captives at the U.S. Navy facility.
Major Marley served eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. In addition, he holds a Master of Arts degree in Education from Seton Hall University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Stockton University.
