Sandy Jo MacArthur has over 43 years in law enforcement. She spent 35 years full time with the Los Angeles Police Department, retiring in 2015 as an Assistant Chief. She continues her work with the LAPD as a reserve officer serving at Training Division. Upon retirement she has worked with numerouse police agencies accross the country in areas such as use of force, officer wellness, and training. Sandy Jo Joined the University of Chicago Crime Lab in 2016 and has worked on numerous research projects focused on both improving policing strategies and reducing violence in our communities. In 2022, Sandy Jo recieved her doctorate in Psychology.
