Makayla Burden is a fourth-year doctoral student in Michigan State University's School of Criminal Justice. Her research primarily focuses on patterns and predictors of victimization and youth attitudes and perceptions of the police. Mrs. Burden has worked with the National Center for School Safety (NCSS) to review and synthesize the research literature on stakeholder perceptions of school resource officers (SROs) and conducted research on adolescent victimization and attitudes toward police and its influence on crime reporting intentions.
