Police Officer
Denver Police Department, Colorado
Denver, Colorado, United States
Danny Veith has been a police officer since 1985, the past 29 years with the Denver Police Department. The majority of his tenure at Denver PD has been in Patrol. In 2008 Danny transitioned to Detective, under the Office of the Chief of Police, tasked with starting the Department’s Wellness Program. In 2013 he returned to Patrol.
Throughout his career, Danny’s passion has been the well-being of his fellow officers and their families. He has 30 years of experience in critical incident stress management and peer support. As Denver PD’s Peer Support Coordinator, from 2003 to 2013, he drafted internal procedures for peer support providers assisting the department and family in response to a line-of-duty death.
When a line-of-duty death occurred, Danny was an informal consultant for outside agencies until Aurora (Colorado) Police Chief Nick Metz approached him in 2016. Chief Metz proposed an ICS approach to LODDs, via a non-profit organization of like-minded law enforcement professionals, and asked Danny to join other participants in this endeavor (which evolved into the Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation).
