Chief Executive Officer
Othram, Inc.
The Woodlands, Texas, United States
Dr. David Mittelman is the CEO of Othram, a technology company revolutionizing how forensic cases are solved, justice is served, and families are mended. Local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies across the United States and internationally have partnered with Othram to break through previously impenetrable forensic DNA barriers and close previously unsolvable cases. Mittelman got his start in the Human Genome Project and later received his PhD in Biophysics from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his postdoctoral training at Baylor’s Human Genome Sequencing Center, under the direction of the director, Richard Gibbs, PhD. Mittelman started his own NIH-funded research program as an associate professor, where he developed STR genotyping tools used by the 1000 Genomes Project. In 2013, he founded Arpeggi to commercialize genomics technology he developed at the university. Arpeggi was acquired by Gene by Gene in August 2013, and Mittelman served as the CSO at Gene by Gene and its flagship brand, Family Tree DNA. He later joined Tute Genomics and led their acquisition of Knome. Tute was acquired by PierianDX in 2016.
