Dr. Medina Baumgart is a psychologist with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Psychological Services Bureau. She has extensive experience working with sworn and civilian law enforcement personnel in both correctional and agency settings. Her areas of interest include officer resilience, peer support, critical incidents, post-traumatic stress injuries, suicide, and law enforcement retirement. Her professional duties include providing organizational consultation and operational support to patrol stations, training sworn and civilian personnel on various law enforcement-relevant topics, providing course instruction to deputy recruits, conducting critical incident debriefs, responding to crisis and emergency situations, and providing counseling services to LASD personnel. She is also the consulting psychologist for the Peer Support and Chaplains programs. Outside of work, Dr. Baumgart is married to a now-retired police officer and author of the newly published book, "Surviving Retirement: Finding Purpose and Fulfillment Beyond the Badge."
