Natalie is a 17-year veteran with SDPD and has worked as a detective for 10 years. For the past 5 years, she has been in the Child Abuse Unit where she has investigated over 200 cases of sexual/physical abuse and neglect.
Natalie is the unit's trainer for newer detectives and also the SDPD Child Abuse Unit's liaison between the San Diego DA's Family Protection Office and Rady Children's Hospital/Chadwick Center for Children.
Natalie started the department’s first Child Advocacy Canine Program for use of a Facility Dog during forensic interviews. Natalie’s K9 teammate is a 5-year-old yellow Labrador retriever named Lyle. Since April 2023, K9 Lyle has successfully taken part in numerous child victim interviews and community engagement events for the department.
