David Cefalu began his law enforcement career with the Wauwatosa Police Department (WI) in 2006. David is currently assigned to the patrol bureau and has served in the patrol, investigative, and administrative bureaus where he was tasked with analyzing, evaluating, and implementing processes for recruiting and selecting police officers along with the reintegration of military veterans. David is a 2021 National Institute of Justice LEADS scholar and a doctoral candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. His dissertation focuses on the impact of ethical climates and leadership on individual ethical behavior, mental health and wellness, and turnover intent. David is a certified instructor in various disciplines and served 15 years with the department’s Special Response Team. He has also served on the board of the Police Research Advancement Section of the IACP.
David is a Major in the Wisconsin Air National Guard with 22 years of service ranging from Security Forces to Tactical Command and Control. He is currently assigned to the Office of Inspector General as the Director of Complaints Resolution.
