Chief Constable Andy Marsh QPM joined the College of Policing as Chief Executive Officer in 2021. He is the longest serving Chief Constable in England and Wales with a breadth of experience to draw from as the leader of policing’s professional body. Positioning the College as a relevant, dynamic, and connected system leader he is driving policing improvement based on the evidence of what works, by delivering betters standards and improving leadership. Andy’s police career started in 1987 as a constable in Avon and Somerset Police. As Hampshire Chief, he oversaw large-scale transformation, leading the force to be recognised as one of the best value for money nationally. In Avon and Somerset, he led the internationally acclaimed approach to data by using advanced predictive analytics and visualisation to manage demand. This enabled the Force to be recognised as one of the most efficient and effective. Andy played a significant role as the UK's National lead for body worn video where he pioneered the use of this vital technology. Andy was responsible for the NPCC International Coordination portfolio for six years, leading and advising on police modernisation programmes.
