Captain Jason Simon is a 23-year veteran of the Youngstown Police Department in Youngstown, OH. Presently, he is the Chief of Detectives and oversees all investigations, crime scenes, crime analysis, evidence and records of the 200-person agency. He has commanded the Patrol Division, Services/Planning & Training Division, 911 Center, Fiscal Unit and has served as a supervisor in all others He has been instrumental in modernizing and reshaping not only his own department but agencies within Ohio through ILP implementation, community-police relations, application of technological innovations, training, policy formation/best practices, and more.
Capt. Simon is a graduate of Youngstown State University with a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy (Session #264). Locally he sits on several Boards of Directors. Nationally, he is a member of the FOP, FBI NAA, HTCIA, ILEETA, is an Executive Fellow with the National Poliing Institute and is a member of the IACP. Capt. Simon serves on the IACP’s Police Administration Committee, the IACP Policy Council Advisory Group, and is a consultant with CRI-TAC.
