Utilizing the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's Specialized Child Sex Trafficking Team (CSTT) to Identify Gang-Involved Trafficking as Frontline Workers
Senior Analyst, Child Sex Trafficking Team National Center for Missing and Exploited Children Alexandria, Virginia, United States
This workshop is open to active law enforcement officers only. By leveraging donated cutting-edge technology and tools, combined with open-source information, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s (NCMEC) team of analysts recognizes that gang affiliation is an endangerment which can greatly affect both missing and exploited children. While gang involvement in child sex trafficking is not a new phenomenon, gangs and traffickers are constantly changing their methods to avoid law enforcement detection. This session will define the issues surrounding child sex trafficking, present new language and social media examples, as well as describe indicators that point to the potential for gang involvement. The presenter will provide insight into what current trends/patterns NCMEC is seeing as a national organization through the use of case examples.
