Trooper
Utah Highway Patrol
I have been a Utah State Trooper since 2018. I began my Law Enforcement career working patrol in an area with a high number of individuals in crisis. After a couple of years on patrol, I worked full-time on the department's community engagement and outreach team. I am passionate about this profession and I am aware of the inherent risks and pitfalls we face. I have worked with many in our profession that have asked themselves if it is worth it, especially with the recent civil unrest and outcries. I believe that first responders do not need to be victims of their occupation. Before transferring to the community engagement team, I was struck by a drunk driver on the interstate while patrolling. I experienced many hardships as a child including substance abuse by family members, divorce, and housing instability. I have been a member of the department’s peer support team since August 2021 and a Peer Support Team Coordinator as of October 2022. I currently work as a major crimes investigator and I work to maintain a healthy lifestyle with my two children and beautiful wife of 13 years.
