Outreach Coordinator Identity Theft Resource Center
Millions of identity and cyber crime victims seek assistance from law enforcement agencies every year. Victims of other crimes are often at risk of secondary victimization of an identity crime. The National Identity Theft Victim Assistance Network surveyed government agencies, law enforcement, and prosecutors and found that 58 percent of these agencies were unable to address requests for victim assistance related to identity theft/fraud. These agencies, however, recognized the threat of identity crimes and wanted to support victims. Identifying secondary risk and aiding these victims is particularly challenging for smaller agencies. This session will focus on identifying victims at risk of secondary victimization and how to leverage Identity Theft Resource Center victim services for your population at no cost to the agency.
